SIZZLING SUMMER PLANT SALE AT TRBG ! ! !
Contributed by: June Marsden on 6/28/2008

TROPICAL RANCH BOTANICAL GARDENS JULY OPENING OFFERS BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPING PLANTS AT SUMMER SIZZLING SALE PRICES. AS ALWAYS, THE PUBLIC IS WELCOME TO TOUR THE 10 THEME GARDENS AT NO COST.

On July 19, plant enthusiasts will be able to purchase plants ranging from large bamboo, gumbo limbo or fiddlewood trees to topiaries to smaller drought tolerant plants for 10% off the price. Gardening experts will help buyers select the "right plant for the right place" and give them informative planting instructions.

During July and August, Tropical Ranch Botanical Gardens will be open one Saturday each month (July 19, August 16) and will resume its usual weekend schedule on September 20-21 featuring TRBG's "Third Annual Amateur Garden Photo Contest." July and August are excellent times of year to capture the beauty of the gardens and still have enough time to submit entries by September 6. TRBG gift certificates will go to the photographers who have taken the "winning" pictures of the Gardens throughout the past year. Well known local artists, Kelly Arnold and Hope Everson, will be the judges, and Diane and Jim will announce the winners at 10 AM, Sunday, September 21.

TRBG will be selling hundreds of rare and unusual plants as well as better known landscaping plants from 9AM-3PM, on July 19. Many of these plants may be seen in their mature form within the Gardens; for example, a wide variety of Copperleaf plants, several types of Bamboo, Blood Leaf Bananas, and Variegated Mahoe Trees.

Because the Treasure Coast Area is currently under landscape watering restrictions, TRBG is also featuring plants that have low water requirements and still add a great deal of color to the garden throughout the year. Both Native Florida as well as other hardy landscape plants such as Fiddlewood, Firebush, Yellow Elder, Crown of Thorns, and assorted types of Bromiliads and agaves will be for sale at reasonable prices.

As always, the public is invited to stroll through the lushly landscaped, three acre Botanical Gardens at no charge. There are ten theme gardens: the International, Oriental, Bamboo, Butterfly Garden, the Mexican Patio area, the Wine & Cheese Gazebo, the Wedding Gazebo and Moonlight Garden, an Herb and Spice Garden, a Palm Tree Garden, and the Champion Tree Garden. Last year, a Living Library containing a Champion South Ridge Holly, a Bo Tree, and several others were inaugurated.

Recently, TRBG was voted the "Best Botanical Garden" in our four-county area. In 2000, Diane Rexroad and Jim Haines established these unique and diverse gardens that surround their home, and the gardens offer homeowners a good example of what can be accomplished on their property.

Tropical Ranch Botanical Gardens will be open Saturday, July 19, and Saturday, August 16, 9 AM-3 PM. There will be hundreds of rare and unusual plants for sale ranging from large palms to plants appropriate for container gardening. The Gardens are located at 1905 SW Ranch Trail in the Tropical Farms area of Martin County.
