Art Walk is the place to be
Every second Wednesday of the month the Downtown Business Association of Fort Pierce's Art Walk event celebrates the Space and Treasure Coast's talented artisans with a sidewalk art show. The Highwaymen, Backus Gallery, Colleen Nash Becht, and many other artists and craftsmen display their works of art.
Each month a local charity is chosen to benefit from the artist's registration fees and merchant donations. The designated charity for May's Art Walk is the Save the Chimps organization (501c3) in Fort Pierce. The Fort Pierce Save the Chimps location is one of two chimpanzee rescue facilities in the United States. The residents of Save the Chimps are retired Air Force and NASA test subjects and medical research animals. The Director of Save the Chimps, Triana Romero, will be on-hand to discuss the rescue and rehabilitation of the chimps and will have informational items such as videos and pamphlets. Here's the cool part...the Chimps actually paint. Their art work will also be on display and available to purchase. Please help support this valuable local project.
Art Walk also attempts to draw attention to Fort Pierce's aspiring young painters and craftsmen. Lincoln Park Academy's students and teachers will be our special guests for May. Mr. Albert and his Jazz Band will be the musical entertainment. Ms. Ditullio's students will have a potter's wheel demonstration. Ms. Hueter will highlight student art work.
If you enjoy a class A art show...make Art Walk your home. If you have a soft spot in your heart for the abuse and mistreatment of chimpanzees...Art Walk will help. If you want to see who the next Picasso or Van Gogh is...Art Walk is the place to be.
This is a party you definitely do not want to miss.
