On any Tuesday, you can get help with family history research at the Downtown Fort Pierce Main St. Lucie County Library on Melody Lane. The Treasure Coast Genealogical Society (TCGS), St. Lucie County's family history research volunteers are there every Tuesday to help patrons find their ancestors.
TCGS is moving its meetings to the downtown Fort Pierce branch of the St. Lucie County Library. "We provide on-hands research help and we couldn't do it without the library's access to genealogy databases and its book collection," said Pat Giordano, President. "Dedicated genealogists subscribe to research databases at home, but most people don't subscribe and need direction. The library offers the Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest subscriptions and our volunteers offer the guidance. "
TCGS will meet the third Tuesday of every month at 1:30 PM at the Downtown Fort Pierce library, There will be two programs in April: on the 8 th, TCGS offers a special program on the Seminole Nation and St. Lucie County, with Louise Jones Gopher and Lucille Rights-Murtough; on April 15, there will be will be a program on "Black Sheep in the Family." On May 20, the program will be on "Greenville, South Carolina of Olde." During the summer, TCGS will meet informally on the third Tuesday of the month at 1:30PM. Educational programs begin again in earnest in September on the third Tuesday of every month.
