What:
The Cooling Station is back at the Downtown Farmers' Market in Fort Pierce by popular request! This feature allows market customers to cool down under a cooling mist while feeling about 20 degrees cooler. This ecologically friendly station uses only about one gallon of water each hour. Bobbi Spencer, Market Manager states "Customers and vendors alike asked the Cooling Station to return due to the extreme temperatures we have recently experienced."
Sherry Bourchert, a regular WPB customer, says she will "still come to this market every chance I get, but the Cooling Station allows me to stay longer. I visit it several times every Saturday." According to Brenda Chin of Captain Jerry's Seafood, "The cooling station makes the market's summer months bearable. I love to go and just stand there a few minutes to get refreshed."
The farmers' market in Downtown Fort Pierce has enjoyed 12 years of serving area residents with the last five summers making it a year round event. According to Spencer "customers appreciate the added feature of a place to cool down while shopping and supporting area vendors. While the market is smaller during the summer months we continue to bring fresh baked goods, produce, seafood, beautiful plants, coffee, tea, smoothies, delicious prepared food, honey, soaps, and more to Treasure Coast and surrounding area residents."
The market is open every Saturday from 8am to 12 noon year-round and is located on the beautiful Indian River Lagoon between the Fort Pierce City Marina and Main Library. Live music is featured each week and there are lots of nearby shops and restaurants. Also visit the Fort Pierce Jazz Society's Arts and Craft Market on the grass just west of the Downtown Farmers' Market of Fort Pierce.
