The author's study of Brando's final years inspired its title and focus.

Christian Brando, Marlon's oldest child, is a central character in Barnes' play. The Oscar-winning actor's son and Barnes spoke over the telephone on more than one occasion. Barnes was pleased that Christian not only read, but approved of the script. "He said that I had captured his anger and frustration, the futility of living up to the Brando name," said Barnes. "He was truly a lost soul." Rewritten and restructured since its last performances, Barnes (of Jupiter) is confident that "A Love Lost Life" is better than ever. Hap Erstein of The Palm Beach Post gave "A Love Lost Life" a B- saying "Barnes is clearly onto something stage worthy with the Brando family melodrama and his research efforts are evident..."

The ensemble cast is experienced and talented. Robert Ashkenas reprises his widely acclaimed performance as Marlon at age 80. Robert is effectively twinned by Richard Ribuffo playing Brando at age 47 and 67. Ribuffo directed Les Misérables at the Maltz Theater in Jupiter, FL last year. West Palm Beach native Alex Haney plays the role of Brando at ages 25 and 30. Haney, who now resides in New York, was recently cast in a supporting role in "LiveMansion: The Movie," a film from executive director Spike Lee. Elana Vital, who plays the roles of Tarita and Cheyenne Brando, has studied at HB Studios in Manhattan as well as The Acting School of South Florida. Well known South Florida actor Justin Simms, takes on the role of James Dean. And author, David Nathie Barnes plays the role of Christian Brando. Barnes performed lead roles in two official selections of the 2007 Palm Beach International Film Festival; a short film "Anatomia" (also best local short winner in the Miami Underground Film Fest) and "9:04am". Jay Kantor, Marlon's long time agent and friend is played by Palm BeachGardens native Shane Suefert. He has appeared in HBO's "Entourage" and The History Channel's "Skeletons on the Sahara."

Writer / Director Steven Jacobs ("Anatomia") teams up with Augustin Kennady; known most recently for an 11 minute short film adaptation of Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery", to direct "A Love Lost Life". Both are eager to bring their unique brand of creativity to the project.
