Building a business plan and utilizing local financial and business resources to start your own business will be the primary goals for participants who enroll in a course, Advanced Agribusiness Management, at the University of Florida Indian River Research and Education Center in Fort Pierce. The course will meet Wednesday evenings, starting August 27, 5:30 until 8 p.m. and will continue until mid-December.
Jane Bachelor, a business and human resources expert with decades of experience gained from prestigious corporate positions will instruct the course, along with an innovative list of guest speakers who will present topics such as available assistance for small business owners, marketing, financial planning and other related topics. Featured guest speakers will include local business professionals such as President and CEO of the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce Linda Cox and Larry Pelton, president of the Economic Development Council.
"Students will work in teams to develop a business plan around a hypothetical entrepreneurial venture of his or her choice," said Bachelor.
According to Bachelor, text and classroom concepts will be applied to the formation of a thoroughly-developed, all-inclusive, professionally presented and well-written business plan.
To enroll in Advanced Agribusiness Management, or for more information about University of Florida degree and certificate offerings at the Indian River Research and Education Center in Fort Pierce, please contact Jackie White at (772) 468-3922, Ext. 148, or by e-mail at jkwhite@ufl.edu
