Contributed by: Erick Gill, SLC Media Relations on 9/16/2008

Orlando, FL - The Treasure Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) won two awards for its outstanding projects during the 2007-08 chapter year. The awards, presented by FPRA State President Suzanne Sparling, APR, during the Association's Annual Conference in August, recognized the chapter for its membership growth and for its professional development.

The 2007-08 Chapter President Adrienne Moore, APR, CPRC, who served her third term as president, received the awards during the President's Luncheon at the 70 th anniversary FPRA Annual Conference at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando.

Second Vice President Bryan Beaty, Assistant to the President at Indian River State College, served as Membership Chair. Following the annual membership renewals, the chapter needed 15 new members to reach last year's total membership of 65 and then added 10 new members to reach this year's chapter goal of 75.

Media Conference chair Beverly Bevis Jones, APR, of BB Jones Communications in Stuart, coordinated the chapter's annual Media Conference, which is the chapter's main professional development opportunity for members and non-members. Jones and a committee of chapter members organized the annual Media Guide, a new Resource Directory from area businesses, registration, speakers and sponsors. More than 168 public relations professionals and media representatives were on hand for the half day program.

The Treasure Coast Chapter is one of 15 chapters in the Florida Public Relations Association and will celebrate its 25 th anniversary in June 2009. The state membership is more than 1,500 public relations professionals from Pensacola to Treasure Coast and from Jacksonville to Southwest Florida. The Florida Public Relations Association is the oldest state public relations association in the country, started in 1938.

Founded in 1984, the Treasure Coast Chapter of Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) serves the needs of public relations professionals in Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties with the goal to advance the profession of public relations, promote high professional and ethical standards and build the reputation of the profession on the Treasure Coast.
