3/10/06 Keith & Monica Mallow, owners of Collector's Comics in Fort Pierce along with Pastor Kurt Owen of The Victory Word Church in Fort Pierce, started a program called "Heroes for Heroes"in March of 2006.
We put together an initial collection of 10,000 comics, and shipped them to our soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq.
We want them to know we are thinking of them & that they have our support. We hope that by sending these comics over there, it will provide some entertainment as well as a brief respite from the war.

In addition, we are also sending some age appropriate comics to the bases for the soldiers families left behind.

6/01/06 HEROES FOR HEROES, is a program designed to send thousands of comic books to our soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The program was started by Keith and Monica Mallow, owners of Collector's Comics along with Co-founder, Pastor Kurt Owen of "Victory Word Church" in Fort Pierce.

When we started this program we set our goal at an initial quantity of 10,000 comics. As of this date, we are happy to report that we have sent in excess of 38,000 comics with more being sent every day! We should surpass 50,000 comics by September!!

When we posted the original article, we never expected to receive the outpouring of good wishes and generous donations from all over the country!We have received an unbelievable donation of over 10,000 comics from Buddy Saunders and "Lone Star Comics" in Texas!

Lone Star Comics is the largest comic book & collectible chain of stores in Texas and they jumped on the bandwagon as soon as they heard about the program! They have also promised that there would be more to come!
We have also received comics from Neatstuff Collectables in New Jersey, as well as many local individuals, too numerous to mention.

On behalf of all the soldiers, we wish to thank each and every one of you, and hope more people come aboard to show our soldiers we are thinking of them!

We want our troops to know we are thinking of them & that they have our support.

We hope that by sending these comics over there, it will provide some entertainment as well as a brief respite from the war.

09/19/06 We received this great E-mail from CH Lonnie Locke, 2/10th MTN DIV (L)
He wrote, "Here is a picture of YOUR soldiers!" It doesn't get any better than that!!

Please do not be intimidated thinking that donating a few comics to our troops while others are donating thousands makes your donation insignificant. We receive many donations of 2-5 books and all are equally appreciated!
Remember-every book goes to our troops over in Iraq & Afghanistan! Let's give them a Happy Holiday season!!
