Dr. Mary Locke Receives National Award of Distinction
Mary G. Locke, Ph.D., Vice President/Provost of Instructional Services at Indian River State College, was recently recognized with the national 2009 Administrator Award of Distinction from the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society. The award was presented to Dr. Locke at the Phi Theta Kappa National Conference for consistently demonstrating exceptional support of IRSC students and their active involvement in the Nu Iota Chapter of the PTK honor society at IRSC. The Award recognizes college administrators throughout the nation for outstanding effectiveness in encouraging student scholarship, achievement, leadership and community service through participation in Phi Theta Kappa.
A twenty-seven year employee of the College, Dr. Locke has previously served as Executive Director of the IRSC Foundation, Dean of Institutional Advancement, and Executive Assistant to the President. Promoted to Vice President of Instructional Services in 2000, she serves as Provost of the IRSC Main Campus and oversees the College's four branch campuses, Baccalaureate programs, educational and student support services, enrollment management, marketing and public relations functions. An alumna of IRSC, the Fort Pierce resident earned a Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree in Public Administration, and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University.
