FORT PIERCE, Fla.-On Friday, May 18th, the St. Lucie Film Society will hold their inaugural event at the Historic Sunrise Theatre in Downtown Ft. Pierce.
"This will be an evening to remember," Jacquelene Burke, Chief Financial Officer of the St. Lucie Film Society said.
An Evening with Award Winning Director Jose Garofalo will kick off the St. Lucie Film Society line up of events. The evening will include segments from Garofalo's films,
Redemption,
The Wishing Stone, Playing The Tape and the film nominated for best documentary,
Sacred Waters starring Steven Bauer, Andy Garcia, Gloria Estefan and Arturo Sandoval. The screenings will be followed by a wine and cheese reception including a question and answer session with Director Garofalo, who also happens to be President of the St. Lucie Film Society.
Robert Roldan, Vice President and Co-Founder of the St. Lucie Film Society explained many have approached him since announcing the creation of the society.
"We've had such a positive response," Roldan, said. "We expect a great turn-out!"
The St. Lucie Film Society, whose home is the recently restored Downtown Fort Pierce's Sunrise Theatre, is dedicated to the promotion of independent and foreign film as an art form and to bring films of artistic and cultural importance to our community. Their mission is to develop events that will expose their neighbors to culturally diverse films.
