FORT PIERCE - The Florida Nursery, Growers & Landscape Association (FNGLA) will honor two St. Lucie County residents for their work at its annual meeting in June.
Ed Skvarch, with St. Lucie County's Cooperative Extension Office, was named "2007 Outstanding Educator of the Year," and Gary Roberts, with Gary Roberts Nursery & Landscape, was honored with the "2007 Wendell Butler Award." The Butler Award is given to individuals who are currently members of FNGLA and have proved faithful and exceptional service to the horticulture industry. These awards will be presented to the recipients at the FNGLA's Annual Meeting on June 16 in Marco Island.
Skvarch has worked with St. Lucie County's Cooperative Extension Office for more than eight years, working with the commercial horticulture industry, teaching pesticide training and best-management practices. In addition to running his own business, Roberts serves on the advisory council for the county's Extension Office and is active in the community.
