Contributed by: Erick Gill, SLC Media Relations on 8/29/2008

FORT PIERCE - The St. Lucie County Extension Office and the University of Florida will offer a two-day workshop on redesigning your landscaping on Friday, Sept. 12 and 19 from 8 a.m. - noon.

Held at the Extension Windstorm Mitigation Training Center (Hurricane House), students attending the workshop will learn how to evaluate their current home landscape and develop an environmentally-friendly landscape plan for their yards.

The two-day workshop includes:

· Session One: Landscape professionals will discuss basic principles of landscape design, Florida landscape plants and their uses. Students will take the tools learned during this session and prepare a template of their current landscape.

· Session Two: Students will use their landscape template to create a design for their landscape. Landscape professionals will be on hand to help the students with the design process and give personal feedback.

The cost to participate is $30 per household. Both sessions will be held at the St. Lucie County Extension Office, Hurricane House, 8350 Picos Road, Fort Pierce.

For more information or to receive a registration form, contact the St. Lucie County Extension office at (772) 462-1660 or email Kate O'Neill at kasmi@ufl.edu.
