St. Lucie County Fire District Adds

Three Fire Inspectors/Investigators

Port St. Lucie - Three St. Lucie County Fire District firefighters recently passed the State of Florida Fire Inspection Exam to be State-certified as fire inspectors for the District.

Donald Botterbusch, Paul Langel, and Brian Putnam went through the testing process in early April. Botterbusch has been with the Fire District for over 14 years, both Langel and Putnam for almost 10 years. All three were assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau in January 2007.

The Fire Prevention Bureau is responsible for inspecting both new and existing commercial and multi-family residential structures for life safety compliance. They also serve a dual-function, performing fire investigations. As investigators they are responsible for determining the cause and origin of fires.

During 2006 the Bureau completed 3,607 scheduled fire/life safety inspections and conducted 146 cause and origin investigations.
