American legion post 171 held their Annual Commander's/ President's Ball on March 21, 2008 to honor Post Commander Henry Clayton Sr., Auxiliary President Dorothy Bass and S. A . L. Commander Charles Butler. The Post also recognized the American Legion's 89th birthday. Every one sat down to a meal served by served by 2-Vice Commander Jimmy Fowler and Girl scout troop 941 while being entertained by the musical group (The Council) Lead by American Legion member Carolyn Kennedy. The speaker for the night was 12th District Commander Author Dudley. Commander Henry Clayton awarded Tommy Effend as the Legionnaire of the Year, William Smith As the Most participation, Eddie Davis for most dedicated and Kevin Hicks as Civilian Volunteer of the year.
