Post 171 sends two to Boys State

As the young men from as far away a Jensen Beach, Post St. Lucie and Ft. Pierce gathered in the parking lot of American Legion Post 40 to catch the Boys State bus to the state capital of Tallahassee. We are very happy to support this program. Boys State is a training program that teaches the young men of America how the government works. They are taught how to create and pass bills into law and they will have to run for a office from the local government to the top prize the Governor of Boys State of Florida. from there they will go to boys Nation and learn how the government works on the national level. American legion Post 171 will be sending Xavier Brown Jr. The son of Sonja and Xavier Sr of Ft. Pierce. The is a student at West wood High School and is a proud member of Men of Tomorrow (MOT). How ever we had to use an Alternate Davis Watson from Melbourne. If you have not been to one of these boys state sent aways you have missed just what America is all about. As the Bus pulled away you could see the pride as well as the prayers on the parents of the young men. A special thanks to all of the Boys State Chairmen that worked hard to get these young ready for the event. and a special thanks to Henry Stone of American legion Post 40 who is out there every year checking his list and checking it twice to make sure that ever boy is there and they get on the bus.
