On Sunday Nov. 15, 2009 Charles O. Hines American legion Post 171 held its first Cathay Williams Service (the only known female Buffalo Soldier) to honor all female Veterans that served in the military. During this service the the were awards to honor female veterans that had work in the community to make this country a better place for all. Thee was an award given to the 12 district President Tracy Rac for her support of the American legion as well as her support of he of American legion Post 171. Donna Dennis received an award for her outstanding work she has done in support of the youth in the community. Marie Y. Davis was selected as the Cathay William Female Veterans of The year for her outstanding work as a legionnaire and a member of the Color Guard in always being ready to be be there when ever needed. Christine Boston received an award for her support as an auxiliary member in support of the American and her work with the youth. There where was singing and poetry and history read. This is an event that we plan to do every year. we hope it will grow. For God and Country.
