Mardi Gras 2008 was held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the Fort Pierce Elk's Lodge. There were 128 Red Hatters attending from the following chapters: Bodacious Babes, Boop-Oop-A-Doop Girls, Classy Red Foxes, Crimson Chapelere, Dazzling Dames in Red, Foxy Red Hatters, Friend to the End, Glad Hatters of Vero, High Point Red Hatters, Hurricane Hatters, Lucie Goosies, Pampered Pack of Peacocks, Pizazzy Pineapples, Rebels with Hattitude, Red Bonnet Belles, Red Hattitudes of PLV, Red Hot Flashers, Scarlet Divas, Scarlet Vamps, Shady Ladies, Treasure Coast Ladies with Hattitude, and Treasure Coast Ruby Red Jewels.
Florence Jones, Queen of Dazzling Dames in Red, and Eileen Barrett, Queen of the Lucie Goosies handled the Check-in table.
The room was decorated with Purple, Gold and Green Balloons on each table coming out of a Crown, which sat in the middle of each table. Also scattered on the tables were beads and doubloons.
Our Mistress of Ceremonies was Shirley Doney, Queen of Friends to the End of Fort Pierce.
Each table was called up for the Mask/Costume Contest. As they strutted their stuff in the center of the room, the rest of the Red Hatters either sang "Oh When the Saints Go Marching In" or played the tune on their kazoos. Several of the wait staff served as the judges.
Our Mask/Costume Winners were: Lynn Krauthamer of the Lucie Goosies, Jean Jane Althoff of the Pizazzy Pineapples and Bobbi McHugh of the Red Bonnet Belles.
Our Entertainer was Terry Gradtke, a brilliant comedian and member of Crimson Lace Tea Roses.
Our Red Hat Split Winners were: Pam Waddell of the Glad Hatters of Vero, Claudia Ellis of the BoopOopADoop Girls and Marie Campano of the Hurricane Hatters.
