Bright and early on Friday morning (April 4, 2008), there were 120 Red Hatters (108 golfers and 12 for lunch only) that gathered at Gator Trace Country Club for the Fourth Annual Red Hat Gator Gals Golf Tournament. There was a continental breakfast served before they tee off at 9am. Chapters participating were: Les Femme en Rouge, Purple Passions of Hutchinson Island, Red Hat Chicks, Classy Red Foxes, Royal Pains, Red Hat Gator Gals, Manatee Reds, Lucky Ladies, Red Hattitudes of PLV, Lucie Goosies, Space Coast Scarlet Oharas, Funtastic Friends, Martin County Ruby Reds, Treasure Coast Ruby Red Jewels, and Red Hattitudes.
The weather cooperated so that all these women could finish up 18 holes of golf. There was a breeze blowing most of the day so that the heat didn't affect them too much.
After the tournament, there was a luncheon at the restaurant. The tables were decorated with a vase of artificial flowers (in our colors of course) and white tablecloths with red linen napkins. Also there was a small gift for everyone attending. There were red and purple balloons, and oodles and oodles of door prizes. There was a buffet with the makings for a chicken Caesar salad, tuna and pineapple salad, macaroni salad, fresh fruit and a crossaint. For dessert, there was ice cream topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.
Jan Brunner, Queen of the Red Hat Gator Gals welcomed everyone. Then she read some children's prayers that were absolutely hilarious.
Carlyn Russell called out the winners of the door prizes.
The winners of the Golf Tournamment were:
1st place Net Score - 4 members of the Purple Passions of Hutchinson Island - Maxine Bowman, Karen Balbinder, Carole Janwich and Marie Stamile.
1st place Gross score: Cynthea Kozlowski, Jackie Porter, Jeanne Mercier, Judy Chamery, members of Red Hat Gator Gals and Lucky Ladies
2nd place net score: Liz Dunleavy, Andy Cavanaugh, Joanna Stafford, Dorothy Sponceller, members of Red Hat Gator Gals.
3rd place net score: Pat Mercier, Gloria Licitra, Mary Bauer, Nancy Gallante, members of Lucky Ladies
Closest to the pin on # 9 Helen Leone, on # 13 Wanda DeFrancis (member of Red Hat Gator Gals), on # 17 Cynthea Spiedler 2nd shot closest to the pin: Carmela Melito of the Lucky Ladies.
There were raffles and 50/50 also. There were two clowns making balloon animals and doing face painting.
A Profit of $2,075.00 was given to the Shriners Hospital for children.
