Big, bright "Green" Bags for Farmers' Market

The Downtown Farmers' Market of Fort Pierce is introducing extra-large new "green" bags for patron shopping. No more makingtrips back to your car to drop off your first round of Farmers' Market purchases. These new Farmers' Market bags are 14" by 10" high, with 28" handles and made from sturdy premium quality non-woven polypropylene.

Bright lime green in color, the bags are 100 % recyclable, as well as reusable and hand-washable. Downtown Fort Pierce Farmers Market Board members chose the bags, after asking vendors and customers what they would like to see in a Farmers' Market Bag. Both vendors and customers said they'd like to carry more items, safely, in a bag, but the bag itself should weigh as little as possible. The bag is reasonably priced at $3.00 a piece and will be sold at the Market Manager's tent every Saturday.

"The bag itself is fashionable, featuring an original black and white design by local artist, Stephanie Lenz of Stuart," said Sylvia Hodges, Farmers' Market Board member. "The size of the bag helps shoppers carry more products, and it's environmentally-friendly. The very visible, lime green color helps the Market raise awareness of our Market and living green."

The Downtown Farmers' Market of Fort Pierce offers flowers, orchids, plants, fruits, vegetables, organic vegetables, herbs, sauces, honey, natural soaps, oils and baked goods. Market vendors include coffee and tea, breakfast and lunch and cold drinks. Food vendors include Italian, Mexican and Greek food, as well as ribs and donuts. Patrons can cool down with smoothies and snow-cones. The summer market features a cooling station for humans and pets.

The Downtown Farmers' Market of Fort Pierce is a green market, open every Saturday from 8 AM to 12 Noon, at Marina Square, Melody Lane, at the waterfront in Downtown Fort Pierce.
