FORT PIERCE - The Fort Pierce Policed Department provides prompt, professional law enforcement to the community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. During 2007, the department experienced a loss of some of its valued some of its most faithful volunteers.
During a time when local governments are being asked to trim their budgets, the department finds itself forced to fill vacant critical volunteer positions. Over the past five years, the department's volunteers have devoted hundreds of hours while saving tax payer's thousands of dollars.
Devoting a couple of hours a week assisting the chief's office, records division, public information office and professional standards with clerical duties is a great way to assist the department in achieving its goal of "protecting the community we serve."
No previous experience is required. All that is needed is an interest in the work and a few hours of time. All volunteers must complete a volunteer application and pass a background check.
Positions needing to be filled:
Professional Standard is looking for a volunteer, preferably with past law enforcement experience, but no necessary, that is capable of doing research into law enforcement or management issues. The person would need strong computer skills as well as internet usage skills. The person would preferably work from home and come to the station as needed. This is a challenging experience that would greatly impact the agency and community.
The Public Information Office needs a volunteer that can complete a variety of clerical duties, including but not limited to, clipping newspaper articles, assisting with department special events, filing and making copies.
The Office of the Chief of Police and the Records Division need volunteers to assist with filling, archiving case files, making copies and other clerical tasks.
