FORT PIERCE - In preparation for next week's budget workshop with St. Lucie County Commissioners and department directors, the Office of Management and Budget has posted the proposed 2008-09 budget book on the county's website.

The 2008-09 budget book, including department summaries, can be found at www.stlucieco.gov/omb (on the left-hand side of the page). From the county's home page, the budget book can be found under the Government tab, above the main article, and then under the Management and Budget link on the left-hand side of the page.

"In the past we've made dozens of hard copies of the budget books for the Commissioners, staff and general public. These books were at least six inches thick and contained hundreds of pages. So in an effort to reduce costs and save on paper, we're going to a paperless budget book for the first time," explained County Administrator Doug Anderson. "Also, by posting the draft budget online, we are providing easier access to anyone that wishes to review the budget prior to the workshop."

St. Lucie County's budget workshop with department directors, Commissioners and Constitutional Officers begins Monday, July 7 at 9 a.m. in the Commission Chambers of the Administration Building, 2300 Virginia Ave., Fort Pierce.
