Helping People Recover After Tropical Storm Fay
Contributed by: Erick Gill, SLC Media Relations on 10/7/2008

Project H.O.P.E. (Helping Our People in Emergency) and St. Lucie I.N.T.A.C.T., the long-term recovery organization, are working together to assist residents with unmet needs as a result of Tropical Storm Fay. Outreach workers are going door to door to speak with residents, but are having difficulty identifying the individuals and families affected by this disaster.

Our goal is to help people needing assistance with housing repair, replacement of household goods, navigating the FEMA process, completing SBA applications, working with insurance companies, etc.

There are many services and resources available in the community to provide disaster recovery assistance for those who need it. Outreach workers and case managers will provide information and referrals to help. If you or someone you know has been effected by Tropical Storm Fay and needs additional help to recover, please contact I.N.T.A.C.T. and Project H.O.P.E. at (772) 462-1777 or visit the Disaster Recovery Center located at 3855 South U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce.
