FORT PIERCE - As part of St. Lucie County International Airport's annual "Airport Day," the Young Eagles Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will be giving free airplane rides to ages 8 to 17 in small private airplanes during the Saturday, Nov. 7 event.
The mission of the EAA is to provide youngsters with a motivational aviation experience, focusing on a demonstration flight in an airplane. For more information about these free flights and to pre-register call (772) 489-7776.
The national EAA Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 to give interested young people an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These flights are offered free of charge through the generosity of EAA member volunteers. The St Lucie County Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association, EAA 908, has given free plane rides to more than 1,600 children in our community and all have taken off from the St. Lucie County International Airport.
Airport Day is a family-friendly aviation community event that gives the public the opportunity to learn about the various careers, opportunities and the many services that aviation and the St. Lucie County International Airport offers. The event will take place from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the Missionary Flight International Hangar off Hammond Road at 3170 Airmans Drive.
Airport Day is free; however, donations will be accepted to benefit C.A.S.T.L.E. - Child Abuse Services, Training and Life Enrichment.
The St. Lucie County International Airport is located at 3000 Curtis King Blvd., Fort Pierce. For more information about becoming an exhibitor call (772) 462-1732 or visit:
