FORT PIERCE - St. Lucie County's Community Services Department is seeking volunteers to assist in tax preparation through The Treasure Coast Community Action Agency (TCCAA) and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. No experience or math skills are necessary.

TCCAA and VITA provide free, volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service centers throughout St. Lucie County.

Volunteers receive free tax training and learn how to help customers. Site coordinators are also needed to assist with scheduling of volunteers and troubleshooting concerns at local sites. For more information on how you can join the tax assistance team, call (772) 462-1777.

The Treasure Coast Community Action Agency (TCCAA) is comprised of Martin, St Lucie, and Okeechobee counties and has the mission to partner with other human services organizations, the private sector and citizens to offer programs and services that build self-reliant individuals, families and communities. This is the second year that TCCAA is collaborating with the free tax assistance program, which focuses on supporting to low- and middle-income households. Other partners include the St. Lucie County Community Services Department, United Way, Economic Opportunities Council, Mustard Seed Ministries, Harvest Food and Outreach, 211, area churches and banks and more.

Additional programs through the TCCAA provide a wide range of services to assist low-income people in attaining the skills, knowledge and motivation necessary to achieve self sufficiency.
