Hibiscus Children's Center is proud to announce the appointment of three new officers to the St. Lucie County Women's Guild. Effective July 1, 2009 Hannah Mendez will serve as President for the 2009-2010 year, with Pamela Cox serving as Vice President and Diana Enriquez serving as Treasurer. Since 1985, Hibiscus Children's Center has been providing services to prevent and reduce child abuse, neglect and abandonment. With residential facilities in both JensenBeach and Vero Beach, and foster care support services based out of St. Lucie County, Hibiscus provides a continuum of care and services all across the TreasureCoast. The role of the Women's Guild is to serve as the fundraising arm for Hibiscus, helping to plan special fundraising events and community activities to spread awareness.
"I am thrilled to take on such an important role for Hibiscus and look forward to the variety of special events we have planned throughout all parts of St. Lucie County this year," Mendez said. "Our primary mission right now is to spread awareness of the St. Lucie County Women's Guild and increase our membership base," she continued. "We can't do it alone!" Members of the Women's Guild hold a very important role in the success of Hibiscus Children's Center, according to Angela Astrup, Director of Special Events. "Whether planning a tropical Caribbean night, a 5K walk/run, a fishing tournament, or a fashion show, all of the dollars raised from special events go toward helping our community's most needy children," she said.
