Riverside National Bank donated $1,000 to the United Way of St. Lucie County for School Supplies for Students. In addition to this, the employees of the bank along with some caring customers worked together to buy school supplies and back packs for 104 children attending Lakewood Park Elementary.
Since its inception in 1997, School Supplies for Students through United Way of St. Lucie County provides children in need with the basic tools necessary to be successful in school. Educators overwhelmingly agree that students with the appropriate supplies at the start of school are more prepared for class, eager to work, and in general have a better attitude toward school. For older students, it can be a reason to stay in school.
Participants in School Supplies for Students are those children eligible for free lunch who are recommended by their school. The program has provided supplies for over 30,000 children in the past 12 years.
Pat Alley, Riverside National Bank's St. Lucie County President said, "Riverside is proud to partner with the United Way to benefit the children. We believe in education and believe in our students as they are the future leaders of St. Lucie County."
