St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce Foundation
Young Floridian Scholarship Program
Port St. Lucie, FL - October 15, 2008. The St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce Foundation invites area businesses and individuals to sponsor the Young Floridian Scholarship Program for the 2008-2009 academic year.
The Young Floridian Award was established in 1988 by General Development Corporation to recognize outstanding seniors for achievement and service to their school and community. In 1993, the Chamber of Commerce Foundation began administering the program and turned it over to the Education Foundation in 2002. Young Floridian awards honor one St. Lucie high school senior in each of 14 academic or extracurricular disciplines. The winners, who are announced each spring, receive a $1,000 scholarship to the college or university of their choice.
The St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce Foundation currently administers the Leadership St. Lucie Program, now in its 26th year. In 2006, the Chamber Foundation established a Teacher Scholarship Program for school district employees seeking their initial teacher certification in partnership with FAU Foundation. The Chamber Foundation has also assisted in hurricane relief efforts in the past few years. Because of the success and expansion of the Chamber's Foundation and its focus on educational scholarships, the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce Foundation is honored to administer the Young Floridian Scholarship program. To participate, please contact the Chamber at 340-1333
The Unified Chamber of St. Lucie County is an organization of business owners working together to help grow their business through advocacy, education and exposure.
