Elks 1520 Crab Fest
Contributed by: Elizabeth Brousseau on 8/12/2009

Over 200 Elks and guests enjoyed a great Crab dinner with all the fixings at the Lodge in Fort Pierce on Sunday August 9, 2009. The event was held to raise money that the Lodge incurred as a result of an auto accident on the way to the Elks State Convention in Orlando back in May.

Musical entertainment was donated by both Joe Montepare and the Lady Grayson Band and many fun events made the day a most enjoyable time to remember.

Four Elks and Elkettes dressed up as "Crab of the Day" and competed to see who could raise the most money. The winner, Pollyanne Wester, won two dinners at the Elks. Past Exalted Ruler, John Henry, agreed to have his beard shaved off if $1,000 was raised. He did not think it would happen, but he forgot that 1520 is the lodge that "Makes it Happen". By 5:30, he was cleaned shaved. A Chinese Auction and Bake Sale were managed by the Elkettes and raised a good sum, as well as a Silent Auction.

All in all, it was a great party and a lot of fun was had by many.
