United Way Charity Bowling League

The Live United team from United Way of St. Lucie County took top honors last week at the awards ceremony for the first ever United Way Charity Bowling League. Team Captain Casey Gaban along with Mike Ankrom, Rick Corbett, and Krista Garofalo placed 1st in the league, with all net proceeds going to United Way of St. Lucie County to help create a brighter future for all in our community.

The Just Juicin' team from Tropicana Products, Inc., which included Captain Dan Gerren and team members Cheryl Gerren, Larry Davis, and Carol Davis took 2nd place. 3rd place went to the DNE Dynamos, a team from Bernard Egan & Company that included Captain Terri Watkins and members Marikka Blanton, Kathy Robinson, and Marcie Virts.

"The league was a fun event that also allowed the participants to give back to those in need in St. Lucie County", stated Casey Gaban, Campaign Support Associate at United Way of St. Lucie County and organizer of this year's league. "Our teams had a great time and we look forward to organizing another league with even more participants from our community."

Individual achievement awards were also presented to many of the league participants. Highest average awards went to Marikka Blanton from DNE Dynamos with a 164 and Dan Gerren of Just Juicin' with a 182. High Game awards were presented to Carol Davis of Just Juicin' for her 273 game and Mike Ankrom from Live United with his 283.

The fun summer league, which ran for 12 weeks at St. Lucie Lanes, included four teams from Tropicana Products, one team from Bernard Egan & Company, and one team from United Way of St. Lucie County. Another 12-week charity league is currently in the works and will begin in mid-January 2010.
