SUMMER WILL SIZZLE WITH CHILDREN'S HOME SOCIETY'S TUMBA LA CASA
People of All Ages Welcome
Young Professionals Invited For a Great Time and Cause
VERO BEACH, FL, MAY 13, 2009
- Bring in the summer and bring down the house at this season's newest event, Tumba La Casa. The party will sizzle with the sounds and flavors of Latin America - featuring one of Florida's hottest bands, Florida Latin Beat, and a menu designed by Costa d'Este's Chef David Rodriguez and Elizabeth Kennedy Catering. Tumba La Casa promises to be an evening of dancing, food, and celebration for people of all ages including young professionals. The event will be held at the Vero Beach Heritage Center, 2140 l4th Avenue on Friday, June l2th from 6:30 to ll:00 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Children's Home Society of Florida's (CHS) programs at Baines Hall, a residence for teen girls, ages l2 to their l8th birthdays, who are in foster care.
Festivities include a wide variety of food served in Spanish cultures, dancing, live music and entertainment, as well as a raffle for prizes, such as a golf cart, and a piñata contest. CHS hopes to inspire rising leaders of the community - while enjoying a great evening - to become actively involved through such opportunities as volunteering, mentoring or becoming a Life Coach to the girls at Baines Hall.
Baines Hall provides a safe, healthy, structured environment for up to l2 teenage girls who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. Previously located in Winter Beach, more than 240 teenage girls from Okeechobee, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties have lived in the group residence since it opened in 1998.
Created in 1902 as a Jacksonville orphanage, Children's Home Society of Florida is the oldest and largest statewide private not-for-profit provider of services to children and families in Florida. CHS is not a government agency and must rely on the generous support of individuals, churches, civic groups and businesses for the funds necessary to give children the chance to be safe, healthy and prepared for life.
Tickets for Tumba La Casa are now on sale at several locations throughout Indian River County, including Seacoast National Banks, Estilo Boutique at 956 Beachland Blvd and Decorative Arts at 923 Old Dixie Highway. Or they can be purchased online at
www.tumbalacasa.org. Tickets are $75 per person and can also be purchased at the door the night of the event. Please call 772-489-5601 for more information.
