For information on these events please call the office as volunteers are needed.
We have been working very hard to write grants for funding sources. We have received grants from United Way, Wal-Mart and CRA of Ft. Pierce. We are grateful for their financial support. If you know of any organization who may be interested in supporting Adult Literacy, please give us the contact information and we will write a proposal to them.
We are available to come to your organization, such as,
Homeowners group, Women's Club etc., to speak about our program. Please call the office if you would like to set up a time with us. We feel that the more people who hear about Literacy and our work, the more who will become involved. We are always in need of more tutors and volunteer help.
If you do not want to tutor, the office can always use help, answering the telephone, filing, data entry on computer, and etc. We also need help with our fundraising activities. Of course a financial donation is also appreciated. As a non-profit organization, we have to be constantly looking for new sources and methods of fundraising.
At the present time, we have about
50 learners waiting for tutors. If you are a tutor now and think you could take on an additional learner please call the office.
TUTORS: Please be sure to
send in your
monthly reports. When applying for funds, we
MUST show how we are helping our learners. You may telephone, fax, e-mail or bring in the information. We need to know the hours you spend preparing and tutoring. We also need to know the materials that your learner has covered, such as Book I Lesson 10, etc.
We are currently selling donated books at the Saturday Morning Craft Market in Downtown Ft. Pierce. It is good publicity for us and a way to make money too. At the craft market, we also take names of anyone interested in becoming a tutor.
There are some great software programs in the
lab. If any learners want to take advantage of the computer lab, please call to schedule a time. The Lab is open:Monday and Tuesday:9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Wednesday and Thursday: 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM
