Contributed by: Melanie Wiles on 8/11/2008

While many Boys & Girls Club supporters are saving their appetite for the 2008 Steak & Stake, young club members are preparing for the event by learning how to properly cut a steak! Boys & Girls Club Garden Terrace members had a special table etiquette class in preparation for the September 4 th Steak & Stake which they will be attending.

The Steak & Stake dinner and auction allows guests to enjoy a delicious steak dinner while taking a stake in a child's life. The Steak & Stake will take place Thursday, September 4 th at 5:30 in Tradition Town Hall. This year's theme is "The Jewels of the Treasure Coast" where the club will recognize its community supporters and shining club members.

Event Chair, Stephanie Morgan, and her dedicated committee are busy collecting a variety of marvelous items for the live and silent auctions that will take place at the Steak & Stake. Some of the featured items will be a getaway to the Ritz Carlton Cayman Islands, Orlando Theme Park Tickets, and an original Backus Painting generously donated by board member Charles Cuomo.

Outback Steakhouse of Port St. Lucie has generously donated their scrumptious food for the one of a kind event. "The Steak & Stake will no doubt be the biggest event for the Boys & Girls Club this year. We are so thankful for the generosity of Outback Steakhouse and the support of their manager Heather Finke in planning this special event." says Executive Director, Norm Penner.

This year's presenting sponsor, Culpepper & Terpening is already saving their appetite for the big event, as are the special guests of the event, the Boys & Girls Club members, many of whom will get their first taste of Outback Steakhouse. The night's entertainment will include the energetic Boys & Girls Club Drumline and the showstopper Showtime Boyz.
