PORT ST. LUCIE - Local historian and genealogist Patti Kirk will continue her Genealogy History Series at the Morningside Branch Library on Wednesday, Sept. 3 with a class and lecture. The genealogy class takes place from 10 - 11:30 a.m., followed by the lecture series from 1:30 - 3 p.m.
The September class will feature free websites in genealogy and how research can be done through city directories. The topic for September's lecture will be "Grandmother Julia did WHAT?" It's the story of Julia Ellen MacDonald, a young Catholic farm girl from western Massachusetts born in 1900, the youngest child of 11, who set her own rules to life in 1920. This true story will excite and explain why people enter the hobby of genealogy.
A historian, genealogist, lecturer, teacher and syndicated columnist of genealogical studies, Kirk is the creator of the Family
History Genealogical Research Group covering Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Brevard counties. The group offers history lectures to the public as well as genealogy classes.
The Morningside Branch Library's Genealogy History Series is held on the first Wednesday of each month from 1:30 - 3 p.m. with classes running from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on the same day. For details, call Patti Kirk at (772)
