Judith Cruz, President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Treasure Coast Chapter announces the addition of a new award category to be presented at the National Philanthropy Day luncheon to be held November 13, 2008 at Tesoro Club in Port St. Lucie.

Every year the Association recognizes local philanthropists for their contribution to the betterment of the Treasure Coast. This year the board of directors of the association has decided to recognize a member within the fundraising profession.

The award was developed to honor the achievements and contributions of Calvin Douglas' spirit of philanthropy. Calvin Douglas a local resident and long time member of AFP International. It honors those AFP members who like Mr. Douglas, have made contributions to the not for profit world through consistent, tireless efforts. It is meant to honor a member for his/hers behind the scenes work that goes unnoticed on a daily basis. Douglas passed away in 2006. The award is sponsored by two lifetime associates of Douglas; William Carlton, ACFRE of Carlton and Company, Boston, Mass. and James Donovan president of Donovan Management, Lake Monroe, FL. They will be presenting the award along with his widow Mrs. Patricia Douglas of Palm City.
