More than 170 community representatives attended the fourth Children's Behavioral Health Summit at the Kight Center for Emerging Technologies at I.R.S.C. on Friday, October 16th. The theme for the Summit hosted by New Horizons of the Treasure Coast was "Family is the Solution".
Dr. Daniel L. Edwards, Chief Operating Officer for Evidence Based Associates, was the keynote speaker. "In addition to Dr. Edwards, we had speakers from The Jason Foundation, Department of Juvenile Justice, Florida Atlantic University, New Horizons, Florida Gang Investigators Association and local law enforcement agencies," said JoAnne Knight, New Horizons director of human resources.
Attendees included mental health and educational professionals from the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee. "Each participant earned five continuing education credits", Knight reported.
Corporate and Community Partners for the event included Indian River State College, Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute, Jackson Drugs, Inc., Magellan Health Services, Eli Lilly, Palm Beach Credit Union, Helping People Succeed, Hibiscus Children's Center, United for Families and Family Preservation Services.
