FORT PIERCE, Florida/ October 16, 2006- Young professionals throughout Martin and St. Lucie County will have an opportunity to join a new organization,
Young Professionals of the Treasure Coast.
One of Young Professionals of the Treasure Coast's objectives is to become a venue for invaluable resources for young professionals. "I feel the Treasure Coast needs an organization aimed at local, young professionals," said founding member, Linda Smith. "I plan on Young Professionals of the Treasure Coast as being a place for its members to network and provide professional support."
At Young Professionals of the Treasure Coast's inaugural meeting, members will decide what they would like to see from the organization and how to meet those goals. Young professionals, ages 19 - 30 and on a career path, are invited to take part and join in the formation of this promising organization. The meeting will take place on Monday, November 6 at Morningside Library, 2410 S.E. Morningside Blvd., Port St Lucie, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Founding member, Linda Smith, is a local young professional who has noticed a need for an organization where peers can gather to network and provide professional support. "When I have a problem at work, and am unsure of how to approach my boss or the client, I often rely on the advice of my colleagues," explained Smith. "Although my bosses are supportive and trustworthy, I don't feel it is appropriate to vent over every work related issue to them," she continued. Smith has currently graduated from Indian River Community College, earning an A.A in Journalism/ Public Relations. She currently works for a public relations firm located in Jensen Beach and will continue her coursework to complete a B.A in Advertising/ Public Relations.
