FORT PIERCE - Diabetes Living Systems, Inc. is scheduled to present "Diabetes Self-Management, Part I" on Tuesday, March 11 at 1 p.m. at the Fort Pierce Branch Library.
Nancy Heinrich, MPH, a diabetes educator, will explain how to self-manage for improved health outcomes and to prevent complications from diabetes. Heinrich is also an instructor for "Every Diabetic Counts!" - a national program targeting African-American and Hispanic Medicare recipients with uncontrolled diabetes.
"Diabetes Self-Management, Part I" will cover the basics of what diabetes is, healthy eating, carbohydrates, self-monitoring and the Diabetes ABCs (A1C, Blood Pressure, and Cholesterol).
Anyone with diabetes, family members of people with diabetes and newly diagnosed individuals should attend this class.
This program is free and registration is not required.
