New Horizons of the Treasure Coast honored its more than 90 volunteers on Thursday, April 23 at the Midway Road location in Fort Pierce. Many of the volunteers joined in a celebratory luncheon hosted at the facility. New Horizons volunteer roster includes the Members of the Board of Directors, the Martin, St. Lucie, Okeechobee and Indian River County "Friends of New Horizons", and the many men and women who volunteer their time to help at one of New Horizons facilities in the four county area.
In speaking to the volunteers, New Horizons CEO John Romano spoke about the important part that each volunteer plays at New Horizons. "During the period from March 2008 to March 2009, 85 volunteers donated 14,825 hours to New Horizons," reported Romano. "This represents a total of $111,000 equivalent wage dollars in services to clients and staff."
In concluding his remarks and thanking the volunteers, Romano stated: "In every community there is work to be done - It's refreshing to know there are still individuals who are willing to give of their time, share their wisdom with others and do good things, even when they do not get anything in return."
