Contributed by: luz camacho on 7/7/2009

Learn to Read of St. Lucie County
809 Delaware Ave.Ft. Pierce, FL. 772-4642747

Good News and Bad news
Good News: we have received grants from
Dollar General,Winn Dixie,City of Ft. Pierce,
and Literacy Adult Volunteers in Florida.

Bad news: We have been awarded less this year from United Way. This is a great loss to our operating expenses. Many of the grants that we apply for have to be for a specific purpose, such as computer software, learning materials and. etc. The United Way Grant has always helped us with the routine operating expenses of the organization: rent, utilities, and etc. so with that in mnd, please try to see a way that you can help us.

Membership: Tutor $25 Teacher's Assistant $50
Teacher $75Professor $150PhD $250

Learn to Read has assisted over 1678 adults during the past years to learn to read and write and/or speak English. And we do it all with volunteers and about $100,000 a year. Please consider donating to Learn to Read. We have different categories depending on your desire to give.

Volunteers needed:
Learn to Read can always use volunteers. If you would like to help in the office, at one of our fundraising events, just call the office and we'll put you to work. We could use a few more Board Members.

Many Thanks to Pam Punkar who was instrumental in obtaining a donation of over 200 hard cover books in excellent condition. We are going to offer them first to the tutors. We will have them displayed on our conference table and would invite you to drop by to see which one you would like to read this summer. Spread the word about our organization. We have 50 learners on the waiting list.
Contact us for the ate of our next tutor-training workshop.

WISH LIST: Gift cards to Wal-Mart, K-Mart or Staples.
Items for the next yard sale.

Tutors please send in your monthly reports and return any materials that you are not using, such as Teacher's Manual, More Stories, etc.
