FORT PIERCE - The Fort Pierce Branch Library presents boat tours of the Indian River Lagoon to the public with Captain and Audubon Warden "Chop" Legé at various times and dates this spring.
Sponsored by the Marine Resources Council and the St. Lucie County Mosquito Control District, these educational boat tours are offered at no charge. Registration is required and seating is limited to the first 30 people who register.
To register, please call (772) 462-1694 and you will hear the date for the next upcoming boat tour. Leave your name, phone number and the number of people who will be in your party. The first 30 people/parties to register will receive a confirmation call. If you do not receive a confirmation call, you may call the number after the date of the tour to hear the next tour date and register for that trip.
These boat tours take guests on a scenic 90-minute tour of the most diverse estuary in North America. With more than 4,000 species of plants and animals, guests have the opportunity to see dolphins, manatees, osprey and other wildlife in their native habitat. Capt. Legé offers lagoon boat tours to school groups as well as Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops.
Once you are registered for a boat trip, you will need to have one person in your party come to the circulation desk at the Fort Pierce Library at 10 a.m. on the day of the boat tour to obtain your tickets. Tickets may only be picked up on the day of the trip. You will then be escorted to the boat where you will hand in your ticket(s).
The Fort Pierce Branch of the St. Lucie County Library System is located at 101 Melody Lane.
