Well, --------- I know it's a deep subject but, what can I say. With this being the last regular inshore tournament of the school year I thought it would be a great idea to have a one fish tournament. Several of the volunteers and a good number of the Teens had asked about it. I thought that a spotted sea trout tournament was the way to go. Especially since there was so many trout caught during the week like the 6 pound 1 ounce gator trout that Teen Angler Volunteer -- Bob Wittbold had caught on Wednesday. We were going to let the Teen's weigh the state bag limit of four trout per person and the heaviest bag of fish would win in each division. Well, I guess we forgot to tell the trout and they decided to take the day off. We had fifteen Teen's that fished and only three trout were brought back to the scales. There was other fish caught like a sheepshead and mangrove snapper that Jason Horn caught. Jacob York caught a few ladyfish. Eli Cozine caught a short snapper and a catfish. JUST NO TROUT!
In the middle school division there was only one trout weighed in and it was good enough for 1st place and biggest fish of the tournament.
David Brashear of Oslo Middle School in Vero Beach took these honors with a 1lb 6oz. trout.
In the High School Division we had two trout weighed in.
1st place went to Jordan Martinez of Westwood High School with a 1lb 3oz trout.
2nd place went to R.J. Swinford of Westwood High School with a 1lb. 2oz. trout.
Next Sunday -- May 6th will be the championship tournament for the Teen Angler of the Year. The top five middle and high school Teen's will be fishing for this honor. In the middle school division the Teen's that will be fishing are David Brashear, Kassidy Guttler, Jason Horn, Dillion Roberts-Louria and Tyler Serio. In the high school division the Teen's are Kalib Guttler, Jordan Martinez, Vincent Serio, R.J. Swinford and Jacob York.
If you have any questions about the championship tournament you can call Capt. Joe at 201-5770 or me at 201-5773.
Good Luck to all the Teen Anglers!
Cammie & Capt. Joe
