FORT PIERCE - The St. Lucie County Environmental Resources Department's January Nature Program Series, held each Saturday at various Environmentally Significant Land sites, features a variety of activities from guided hikes to Frisbee golf.
Saturday, Jan. 6 from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. - Birding at Indrio Savannahs. Come enjoy a peaceful evening among wading birds at one of the state's Great Florida Birding Trail sites.
Saturday, Jan. 13 from 10 a.m. - noon - Introduction to Frisbee Golf. Learn about this fast-growing recreational activity with hands-on participation and guided instruction at St. Lucie Village Heritage Park - the county's first and only disc golf course.
Saturday, Jan. 20 from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m.- Wildlife Walk at Pinelands. Take a morning walk amongst armadillos, otters, deer and other wildlife. This one-mile stroll will take you through flatwoods, hammocks and marshes.
Saturday, Jan. 27 from 9 - 10 a.m.- Sweetwater Hammock Botanical Walk. A short morning walk awaits you through an oak hammock bordering the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. This hidden natural area is sandwiched between neighborhoods and busy streets, waiting to be enjoyed.
