Indian cuisine was something LogOn had not yet experienced.
A YourHub.com "hubber" posted a story that mentioned the health-conscious fare at Bombay Masala, so I had to try it. The restaurant, located at the northeast corner of U.S. 1 and N. A1A, provides diners with a variety of Indian specialties on both the menu and the lunch buffet, $7.99, which is served from 11:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Upon entering, I encountered a feast of the senses - the aroma of Indian spices and the relaxing sound of a sitar filled the air. I took a seat in a booth and looked at the menu, unsure where to start - there are so many items from which to choose!
Unfamiliar with the different dishes, I choose to partake of the buffet, so I could sample a variety of items. I found a variety of curries, including chicken, lamb, tilapia and spinach. Aloo Mattor Gobi, a mixture of potatoes, peas and cauliflower cooked in delicate spices and Pillau rice were also available to accompany the curry dishes.
Fresh Tandoori Nan bread was brought to my table, still warm from the oven. Bombay's menu says Tandoori food is prepared in a Tandoor, an oven made of Indian clay, which is designed to cook bread and meat.
As a devotee of the Food Network, I was intrigued to learn about the cooking process, in addition to my dining experience.
A dessert of Gajar Halua, or carrot pudding, was a perfect endnote to my first taste of Indian cuisine. The ambiance of Bombay Masala, along with the friendly service and delicious food made for a very enjoyable experience.
