While traveling from Vero Beach to Fort Pierce, LogOn the Loggerhead found a cozy roadside grill/raw bar that offered a variety of choices for lunch.
I was starving, it was lunchtime, and Pineapple Joe's was the only restaurant for miles along the lonely stretch of U.S. 1.
To appease my growling stomach, I decided to stop at Pineapple Joe's for lunch It was a good call.
The restaurant wasn't very crowded, and the service was excellent.
Pineapple Joe's menu offered a variety of finger foods or "things," as the menu called them.
Gator bites, $6.50; hush pups, $3.50; and pineapple fritters, $5.25, were just a few of the "things" offered.
I was tempted by plethora of "things" but ordered the blackened fish of the day, $7.95, which was grouper with rice and steamed vegetables on the side.
My dining companion chose the grilled chicken breast, $6.95, which also came with rice and steamed vegetables.
I got a good laugh from a sign that was hanging behind the bar: "If you're drinking to forget, please pay in advance.
The interior walls were covered other signs and nautical knick knacks, but that particular sign stuck out.
It didn't take too long for our food to come out.
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and both decided that we will definitely come back for lunch the next time we are in the area.
