FORT PIERCE - It's just not a backyard sport anymore. Registration is underway for a new wiffleball league running mid-August through October at Weldon B. Lewis Park.

Managed by St. Lucie County's Parks and Recreation Department, the wiffleball league is open to ages 16 and up. Teams will consist of three to five players, with three players on the field during the games. Games will be played Mondays and Wednesdays starting at 6 p.m. An official start date for the season will be determined based on the number of teams that sign up.

Registration for the 10- to 12-game season is $150 per team and includes a hat and t-shirt. Games will be played at Weldon B. Lewis Park, located at 4640 Oleander Ave., Fort Pierce.
