I just have to say how proud I am of my 3 children. As a parent I have been worrying about them getting enough physical activity, ecspecially being all homeschooled. Now don't get me wrong they get a lot of interaction and playing time with friends but as far as activity in a sport; they were not getting that. We have participated in different sports programs throughout the past 6 years of homeschooling but because of finances this year we opted not to sign-up for any. In January we had an awesome opportunity to join a karate program being offered at a great rate so we jumped on it. My kids were not thrilled about doing Karate. That was not their choice sport, but they went to the class (because I put my foot down).
By the end of the first week of classes, my kids were hooked. They were so into it that when they got home they had to practice all of their moves. Now my oldest son is a little more private, so he practices in his room by himself. It is sosatisfying for me as a parent to see my kids learn, enjoy, and get physically fit in such a rewarding sport.
I was very much surprised at how these classes were done. I had never taken karate and had never even attended a karate event. The head instructor is Master LaSala and he has such a way of keeping the kids focused and listening. My kids really look up to him with such respect. Since they started karate their attitude with us at home has even changed. Not that they were bad kids, they have always been awesome. It was the little things we noticed. We never really taught our kids to answer an adult with "Yes, Ma'am" or "Yes, Sir" but over time we realized that we really should teach them this to show respect to an adult. They had picked it up so quickly once they started karate and we were almost stunned. There are more little things like that that we noticed in our kids.
Karate for Christ Ministries has truly filled a need in our family and I believe it was the best move I made putting my kids into these karate classes. The Karate for Christ leadership team are some of the nicest people you could ever meet and they truly have a heart for teaching karate to all ages.
I have attatched a few photos of some class pictures I have taken and also pictures of my children the day they received their yellow belts. They were so excited stepping up to the next level. It will not be much longer till they test again to move up to another belt.
As always thank you for reading my story and have an awesome day. Here is a link to check out Karate for Christ
