Hobe Sound Bible College was recently presented with a $4,000 gift from Aglow International, a transdenominational, worldwide Christian women's organization. Local Stuart Aglow Chapter president and longtime local resident Sue Renard initiated the gift to honor her late husband Tony, a dedicated Christian musician and accomplished pianist. This gift will be used to support a scholarship for a music major at the college.
In expressing her reasons for choosing the local Christian college, Sue stated, "the best way I can honor Tony's legacy as a Christian musician is to help prepare a Christian young person who shares a similar passion for music and the piano that Tony did through his life. Hobe Sound Bible College has such an excellent reputation in the area for presenting quality Christian music programs that I just knew they had a student that could benefit from this scholarship."
Speaking on behalf of the college, Music Department Chairman Dr. Randall McElwain thanked Sue and Stuart Aglow for making the scholarship available. McElwain stated that "most of the students that come to us need some form of financial aid. This scholarship will provide a worthy piano student with the encouragement to persevere. Gifts like these help our students keep focused on preparing themselves to use their talents for a lifetime of service." Music graduates from Hobe Sound Bible College serve as church musicians throughout the U.S. and as teachers of music in the U.S. and foreign countries.
Hobe Sound Bible College hosts music events that draw thousands of people from the Treasure Coast each year. Annual performances of
The Singing Christmas Tree,
The Piano Extravaganza, and
The Concert Series have become a favorite for many. The college was founded in 1960, and is a fully accredited four year interdenominational Christian college.
