Surfrider Foundation's Treasure Coast chapter hosted its first official event Dec. 3 at St. Lucie County's Walton Rocks Beach.
Saturday's events included a beach clean up, a free surf clinic and a barbecue lunch provided by Kristi's Restaurant at Ocean Village.
Dozens of volunteers of all ages donated their time to help remove trash and debris from the coast line. Several volunteers brought tools to repair damaged picnic tables so they could have a place to relax and enjoy the lunch that followed the clean up.
