Southern Eagle Distributing Encourages Treasure Coast Residents to
Celebrate Responsibly over Labor Day

Fort Pierce, FL (August 22, 2007) - As you kick back to enjoy the last weekend of summer, Southern Eagle Distributing is urging Treasure Coast residents to help keep our roadways and waterways safe this Labor Day weekend by choosing a designated driver or a designated skipper before the celebrations begin.

"Labor Day weekend is a great time to enjoy the last days of summer with family and friends," said Peter W. Busch, Owner and CEO, Southern Eagle Distributing. "But whether you're at a barbeque or out on the water, remember to enjoy the weekend responsibly by designating a driver or a skipper if your celebrations will include alcohol."

Since 1982, drunk-driving fatalities during the Labor Day period are down 44 percent, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. In addition, the U.S. Coast Guard reports that alcohol-related boating fatalities have decreased

22 percent since 2002. This progress is due in large part to strong law enforcement, along with community-based alcohol awareness and education programs and the use of designated drivers and skippers.

To help ensure that your celebrations safe, follow these simple tips over the Labor Day holiday weekend:

Designate a Driver or Skipper. Whether you're on the road or on the water, use a designated driver or skipper when out with friends and family. Just as designated drivers help save lives on our highways, designated skippers keep our waterways safe.
Be a Responsible Host. Offer non-alcohol beverages for guests who do not drink and others who are designated drivers and skippers. Always serve food when serving alcohol beverages, and stop serving alcohol beverages at least one hour before the party ends. Finally, arrange safe rides home for all guests.
Drive Safely. Make sure everyone wears a seat belt. Always be alert and in control of your vehicle. Resist the urge to speed by making sure there's plenty of time to reach your destination.

Be Responsible on the Water. Before hitting the water, check all equipment and brush up on boating safety. When on the water, always obey all rules and regulations regarding distance, buoys, channel markers and no-wake zones.
