HUTCHINSON ISLAND, STUART- The Elliott Museum will be exhibiting the work of 39 artists with the Art Associates of Martin County, from Thursday, August 10- October 15, 2006. A reception to celebrate the artists and open the exhibit will be held at the Elliott on Wednesday, August 9 from 5:30- 7:30pm. "Mimics of Van Gogh" will feature 43 incredible recreations of exquisite multi-million dollar masterpieces by the famous Vincent Van Gogh. "To experience the poetic, sensual colors and brush work of these masterpieces has been a challenge of the Art Associates," said Peg Meissner, with the Art Associates of Martin County." Each painting is so authentically textured and will give the viewer a feeling of seeing the original work by the master painter!"
Van Gogh titles represented in the exhibit include; The Blue Iris by Gloria MacHardy, Starry Night by Christine Trevathan, The Sheepherders by Hazel Lookadoo, Self Portrait with Bandaged Ear by Marguerite Swigler, The Bedroom by Ruth Fox, and Langis Bridge, Aries by Dan Millardi along with 39 other mimics.
